The new High Flange track hub offering from Zipp has taken every component to the next level of strength, stiffness, and bomb-proof durability you have come to expect from the Advanced Technology Group at Zipp. The new hubs utilizes a the brand new Z310.9 super-alloy designed by Zipp in conjunction with Alcoa specifically for hubshell use and combines with ZippÌs ground-breaking Spoke Hole Impact Forming Technology (SHIFT) to produce the strongest hub flanges ever tested in our laboratory.

Each hub utilizes a massive 69mm diameter flange locating the spoke heads on a 60mm diameter hole circle (traditional hole circle is 47mm diameter) enabling wheels to be built which are both laterally and torsionally stiffer than those constructed with traditional hubs. Furthermore, the revolutionary Spoke Hole Impact Forming Technology developed by Zipp is the same technology used to coin the rivet holes in aircraft wings. The technology is so time consuming and expensive that only the under wing skins (which are the most highly loaded) receive this treatment, but every Zipp traditional flanged road and track hub spoke hole is impact formed for maximum strength and toughness. The result? Spoke holes which exhibit pull through and fracture strengths over 30% stronger than traditional holes drilled in the same materials and hole fatigue properties more than doubled over a drilled hole in the same material. The result is a hub that can be laced radial, one, two, three, or four cross to any spoke tension, and rebuilt as many times as you feel like it with absolutely no chance of cracking or failure in the flange. While most hub manufacturers void their warranty if you radial lace with their hubs, we encourage it.

To make sure that your power continues to be transmitted the most effectively, our bomb-proof shells ride on the finest ball bearings running in sets matched to 10 millionths of an inch separated by a molded Teflon ball retainer which is lighter and generates less friction and wear than traditional brass retainers, and we use very close fit non-contact shields instead of seals to ensure that the bearings remain free of contamination, but have ABSOLUTELY NO SEAL DRAG. To ensure perfect alignment of the bearings, any hint of flex is eliminated by our 15mm oversized solid 17-4 stainless steel axle. This material is just over 4 times stronger than the 1018 steel threaded rod traditionally used in track axles, and roughly twice the hardness to ensure that you will crush your dropout into powder before the axle thread gives way. Due to the use of these materials and the 15mm axle diameter, the axle is more than 10 times stiffer than a traditional axle assembly!

To complete the package, each hub is individually hand polished to a beautiful finish which allows it to look suitably space aged when laced into a 360 Track Rim, or subtle and classic laced into a vintage wooden track rim.

Track hubs are supplied with Zipp's top quality floating washer track nuts. These nuts are tightly toleranced to the 10x1 and 9x1 thread standard to guarantee long life. Each nut is manufactured from 304 stainless steel with a matching stainless washer swedged onto the end to provide maximum grip while protecting your dropouts. These are without doubt the finest track nuts ever made.
